About the Retreat

Who is the retreat for?

We welcome artists, writers, and creatives of any level - from beginners rediscovering their spark to professionals needing quiet time to focus.

Do I need to be a practising artist to come?

Not at all. Many guests come simply to rest, journal, walk, and reconnect with their creativity in their own way.

Is the retreat guided or structured?

No. Your time here is self-directed. You decide how you spend your days - working, resting, or exploring the local landscape.

Accommodation

What’s in the shepherd’s hut?

The hut includes a comfortable double bed with high quality bedding, a shower room, a small but well equipped kitchen area (hob, full size oven, fridge, cooking essentials), heating, Wi-Fi, and outdoor seating.

Can I cook my own meals?

Yes. The kitchen is equipped for simple self-catering. There are also excellent cafés and pubs nearby if you prefer to eat out.

Is it warm enough in winter?

Yes. The hut is fully insulated and heated. The studio is has a log burner but can get cold, so bring lots of layers!

Can I bring someone with me?

The hut comfortably sleeps one or two people. Partners are welcome if your stay remains focused on rest or quiet creativity.

Are pets allowed?

Calm, well behaved dogs are welcome - please enquire for details.

Studio & Creative Space

What’s available in the studio?

The large, light-filled studio includes worktables, easels, a sink, comfortable seating, and some heating. It’s ideal for painting, writing, or thinking space.

Do I need to bring my own materials?

Yes, please bring the materials you like to work with. Basic tools are available, but specialist supplies aren’t provided.

Is the studio shared?

The studio is private for retreat guests unless otherwise agreed.

Can I work at night?

Yes. You’ll have full access to the studio throughout your stay.

Bookings & Practicalities

How do I book?

You can enquire or book directly through the contact form on the website. I’ll confirm availability and any details before taking payment.

Is there a minimum stay?

Yes, one week. Longer stays (up to four weeks) can be arranged.

What are the rates?

Please see ‘Rates and Availability’.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Arrival and departure times are flexible by agreement.

Is parking available?

Yes, free parking is available on site.

Can I get there by public transport?

Yes. The nearest mainline station is St Erth, 5 minutes away by taxi. The nearest shops are at least 2 miles away however so you will need to consider this.

Creative Mentoring

What does mentoring involve?

Optional one-to-one sessions with me - an artist and qualified creativity coach - offering support around creative confidence, direction, and mindset.

How long are the sessions?

Usually around an hour, held in the studio, on a walk, or over a cup of tea.

How much does mentoring cost?

Sessions are charged separately and arranged in advance or during your stay. Please enquire for current rates.

Extras

What should I bring?

Comfortable clothes, your creative materials, and anything that helps you feel at home.

Are there local walks and places to visit?

Yes. Beautiful coastal paths, local galleries, and quiet coves are all nearby. I’ll be happy to share recommendations.
